APPLE VALLEY — Authorities released composite sketches of the two men who allegedly attempted to kidnap a 16-year-old girl earlier this week.

The driver of the vehicle is described as a bald, heavyset black man in his 40s with a gray beard. The passenger is described as a black man in his 20s with short hair who was last seen wearing a white, long-sleeved shirt and black pants.

The vehicle is described as a red, four-door Dodge Charger sedan with dents and/or scratches on the front bumper.

Authorities say the attempted kidnapping occurred between 2:30 and 3 p.m., as the teenager was walking through the area of Nisqually and Algonquin roads in Apple Valley on her way home from Apple Valley High School.

According to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials, the teenager reported a Dodge Charger with two men had stopped near her. The girl said the passenger got out of the vehicle and grabbed her arm and attempted to pull her toward the car. However, the victim fought back and the suspect fell to the ground, which allowed her to run away, officials said.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have information on the suspects, is asked to contact Detective Jon Andersen at the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station at 760-240-7400.
