Good Job: San Bernardino County and the City of Pomona in getting another dirtbag off the street
On September 21, 2016, Investigators assigned to the San Bernardino County Human Trafficking Task Force, concluded an investigation regarding the sexual exploitation of a minor with the arrest of Marquell Deante Stewart, aka "Kell the King." Investigators identified multiple juvenile female victims that were forced by Stewart, to work as prostitutes for him. Investigators learned the victims were forced to work in San Bernardino County and in the City of Pomona. Stewart faces multiple counts of pimping, pandering, sexual exploitation of a minor, and human trafficking. The mission of the San Bernardino County Human Trafficking Task Force is to further the identification, investigation, and prosecution of individuals or criminal enterprises who are committing crimes related to human trafficking and to facilitate the identification, rescue, and rehabilitation of victims associated with such activity. In recent years, it has been acknowledged that many of the perpetrators of sex trafficking violations are actually being forced into the lifestyle and are, in fact, victims. A paradigm shift has taken place, where along with traditional measures; law enforcement also provides victims with information, direction, and resources to free themselves from the physical and psychological confinement associated with the sex trade. Investigators are asking for the public’s help in locating additional victims.
