BIG BEAR LAKE — San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials are asking the public’s help to locate Mary Bartholomew and Jon Turner, who were first reporting as missing persons out of New York on Aug. 25.
On Sept. 11, California Highway Patrol officers located the vehicle the couple was reportedly driving in a turnout on Highway 38 in Fawnskin. The vehicle was unoccupied. The Big Bear Sheriff’s Station is requesting public assistance in locating the pair, who may be in the Big Bear area.
Bartholomew is 25 years old, 5’8″ tall, 150-160 pounds, with brown eyes and dyed purple/reddish hair.
Turner, 23, is 6’1″ tall, 150 pounds, with blue eyes and long brown hair.
Police in Cortland, N.Y., where Bartholomew lives, believe that the couple met on the internet.
He mother wrote on Facebook that her daughter was last seen picking up a check from her employer in Cortland and shortly thereafter at her residence, where she told the person there that she was on her way to meet her mother.
But Bartholomew never made it to her mother’s house.
She has several tattoos. Her hair is currently purple, but she dyes it regularly.
