The incident began shortly before noon after the administration called the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department saying that staff and security personnel found a handgun and a loaded magazine in separate areas of his backpack, the agency said in a statement Wednesday.

The student was interviewed by a deputy, arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall on suspicion of possession of a handgun on a school campus, the statement said.

The investigation is ongoing and no further information was immediately released, the agency said.
